Haiterbach Unterschwandorf solar park
The Haiterbach Unterschwandorf solar park operated by EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG is located in the district of Calw, around one kilometre north-east of the municipality of Haiterbach and 600 metres south of Unterschwandorf. The plant covers 12.1 hectares and was commissioned in 2024. This makes it one of the youngest sites analysed in the study. The area is located on a gentle slope sloping down to the north.

Natural environment and special features
Neckar and Tauberland, Gäuplatten
The site is surrounded by woodland (to the north), grassland and farmland (to the south) with a high proportion of winter cereals and oilseed rape. To the south-west of the site is a field copse with hedges and scattered trees; to the south of the site is a glider airfield. There are no bodies of water worth mentioning in the immediate vicinity of the site.
The site drops from its highest point at 593 metres above sea level to 563 metres above sea level in a northerly direction.
Grassland (flowering meadow sowing), smaller part to the west was intensive arable land
Floor
Brown earth and terra fusca made from the products of limestone, marl and dolomite weathering as well as rendzina made from limestone

The frames are anchored to the ground with piles without additional struts.
The modules are bifacial.
The paths are gravelled.
The row spacing in the plant varies from 2.5 to 10 metres.
Management
Mowing is carried out once or twice a year, whereby the first mowing is not permitted before mid-June. Neither pesticides nor fertilisers are used. Sheep grazing with an adapted stocking density is also possible.
Equalisation measures
The following compensatory measures were defined:
- The area below the solar modules is to be developed as extensive grassland and maintained permanently during system operation by mowing and/or grazing.
- Along the western boundary of the planning area, a one- to two-row hedge of native shrub species suitable for the location must be planted in a planting grid of 1 to 1.5 m over a width of at least 2 m (maximum 3.5 m), depending on the space available, and maintained during the operation of the plant (maximum height 4 m).
- Protection of biotopes in the area of application of the plant
- External habitat enhancement for the skylark (CEF measure) of 2.25 ha. (Implementation completed at the start of construction)
