Fichten solar park

ENERPARC AG's Fichten solar park is located in the Franconian Alb (Bavaria). The plant covers an area of 22.18 hectares and went into operation in December 2018 (first construction phase) and February 2020 (second construction phase). With a row spacing of 2.3 to 2.4 metres, the row spacing is relatively small. The paths are gravelled. The shape of the system adapts to the relief.

Natural environment and special features

Natural space

Franconian Alb

Surroundings

In addition to arable land, the site is bordered by some mixed woodland. A small area of forest is enclosed by the plant on its northern and eastern sides. The US military training area Hohenfels is located around two kilometres north of the Fichten solar park.

Relief

The site is located in the Franconian Alb at 460 to 490 metres above sea level in a small valley. The relief slopes down towards the centre of the site. There are elevations around the site.

Biotope

This is a former arable farmland. A row of trees and shrubs mapped as biotopes was excavated and relocated.

Equalisation measures

Information on compensatory measures

The following compensatory measures were carried out in spruce trees:

  • Planting measures
  • Extensive grassland development through self-vegetation
  • An area equalisation of 4.6 hectares was implemented on the site of the solar park.

Details of the measures can be found in section 13.3 of the explanatory memorandum to the development plan, including the environmental report.
