Ramsthal solar park
The Ramsthal solar park was built and operated by Wattmanufactur in three construction phases (2021-2024). The park is located around two kilometres south of the town of the same name in the district of Bad Kissingen.
The area of the solar park has special geological and ecological features. In this area, the humus layer is only around 30 centimetres deep before a limestone plateau is reached.
The system has generous module row spacing of around four metres and two centimetre wide free spaces between the modules.
In addition, adapted, extensive cultivation is implemented. By not using fertilisers and pesticides, the area can regenerate naturally in the long term. Adapted mowing times and the use of double-blade bar mowing technology help to protect ground-nesting birds and insects.
Ecological measures were planned right from the start of planning the Ramsthal solar park. These include open corridors for small animals, which allow them to cross the site unhindered, as well as flower strips and structurally rich green areas.
In addition, targeted protection measures for meadow birds were integrated in order to preserve their habitat. The creation of extensive grassland, the planting of trees, hedges, shrubs and herbaceous plant species as well as the installation of insect hotels further contribute to the ecological enhancement of the area. Piles of dead wood and stones provide valuable refuges for numerous animal species, while a pond on the site offers additional habitat for amphibians and water-loving insects.

The site is located in the middle of a poorly structured agricultural landscape. An unpaved farm track runs along the eastern edge, which is lined by a dense row of trees with shrubs in the undergrowth. To the south-west of the plant site, there are several resettlement farms in the immediate vicinity. The nearest wooded area is located around 200 metres to the north-east.
The area is located on a gentle slope, sloping from north-west to south-east.

The racks are anchored to the ground using piles, which are cross-braced with the module tables.
The modules are polycrystalline.
Paths with the following materials were laid out in the plant:
- Chippings 2-32, surface course without binder, crushed sand, mainline sand
- New construction path: BrickRC +Concrete RC
There is no climbing protection or barbed wire on the fence. The row spacing also varies and is 2.88, 3.36 or 4.15 metres.
Management
Sheep have been on the site since autumn 2023. Portion grazing takes place throughout the Ramsthal solar park. In addition, mowing is carried out with double-knife beams. Other maintenance measures include the care of woody plants and irrigation.
Equalisation measures
A total of ten internal and external compensation areas were designated as part of the development plan. Compensation areas 1-7 form the edge areas of the solar park. These areas are to be sown and cultivated in accordance with the development plan.
An external compensation area was taken into account for the promotion of the wild arable grass "thick grass".
More details can be found in the development plan.
