On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity invited the SonneSammeln initiative on 21 May 2026 to the Webinar „Bats in the solar park - What the monitoring in Bad Liebenwerda (Brandenburg) shows” a. Numerous participants listened to the presentations by Antje Gärtner (BayWa r.e.) and Dr Alexander Paul (PfAU Landscape Planning). The many questions could not be dealt with in full for reasons of presentation - they will be subsequently answered in writing and made available.

Background

Bats can use solar parks as Part of their habitats use. The facilities serve them due to the rich food supply regularly as Hunting ground. Numerous studies show that bats do not generally avoid solar parks, but accept them differently depending on their location and design.
In the webinar, the Biologist Dr Alexander Paul about his investigations in the Brandenburg Bad Liebenwerda solar park, in which, as part of the nationwide field study “Biodiversity in the solar park” has recorded bats in 2024.
The webinar is then opened for questions from participants via the chat.

International Day for Biological Diversity

The international day of action to promote nature conservation and biodiversity was introduced by the UN in 2000 and is based on the international UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). It is becoming increasingly important and urgent to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable measures to increase biodiversity.
